Repairs and Maintenance
The building maintenance team maintain the condition of your home. This includes day-to-day repairs, cyclical and planned maintenance.
All our workmen and contractors must follow a code of conduct when carrying out work in your homes.
They must:
be tidily dressed and wear any specific uniform;- introduce themselves to you and show proof of identity;
- explain the nature and purpose of the job;
- be polite;
- respond to your complaints;
- behave in a proper and professional way at all times;
- not smoke, be under the influence of alcohol, use bad language, play radios or cassette players or use your facilities without asking;
- reduce disruption and mess to your home;
- take care of your property and belongings, and protect these from dust, paint and so on (where appropriate they should use dust sheets and plastic over their shoes);
- keep your home secure at all times;
- keep safe all materials and equipment used on site to avoid danger to you your visitors;
- reconnect and test services such as water, gas and electricity at the end of each working day;
- compensate you for the gas and electricity used (and water if on a metered supply);
- clear rubbish from inside the property at the end of each working day;
- remove any rubbish from the garden and other areas outside the property;
- follow health and safety laws and relevant codes of practice; and
- follow equal opportunities good practice.
If a workman does not follow this code when at your property, please contact a customer services advisor on 0800 012 1431. They will pass the matter on to the appropriate supervisor.
